What is “Topeka Young Musician Awards”?

This program is designed to promote musical excellence among youth in northeast Kansas.

What are the qualifications for participating?

The student must:

  • Perform a music solo (voice, piano, string, wind or percussion)
  • Be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade during the spring of 2014
  • Must live or be schooled within 30 miles of the Topeka capitol building

What are the Awards?

Two cash awards given in each category… Vocal, Piano, Strings, Winds and Percussion

  • $200 – 1st Place

  • $100 – 2nd Place

Everyone who participates receives at least three evaluations of their recorded performances. The top four in each category receive additional evaluations based on their live performances on Awards night. All participants in the Awards night program will also receive several gifts from local businesses.
