This is a program designed to promote musical excellence among Topeka-area students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades.
Who can participate?
- Perform solo voice, piano, or instrumental.
- Be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade during the spring of 2012
- Must live or be schooled within 20 miles of the capital building.
NOTE: this is an individual, non-school related event. Participants are not to be coached in the school setting.
How do I participate?
- Prepare a piece, under 3 min. in length. You can choose from three categories…voice, piano or instrumental.
- Create a video file/CD to submit by 6 pm, Jan 15th, 2012 (Midwest Musical Arts at 5330 SW 17th, Topeka, KS 66604).
- Seven finalists from each category will be selected by Feb 5th. All participants will be notified via email of the preliminary results.
- Finalists will perform publicly Mr. 5, 7pm at Wanamaker Woods Church, 3501 SW Wanamaker Rd.
- All program participants (7 in each category) will receive a gift bag, representing gifts from several local merchants.
- The top three judged winners in each category will win cash awards. They may be asked to perform at local elementary schools during the month of April.

Three cash awards given in each category… Vocal, Piano and Instrumental.
